A Bit About Me

Mr. Christopher Brewer is a distinguished music educator, director, researcher, and liturgical musician, serving as the Owner and Artistic Director of The Music Note. With a steadfast commitment to excellence in both private and community music education, Mr. Brewer leads a team of 32 professional musicians and oversees instruction in private voice, instrumental lessons, and ensemble training. A seasoned voice teacher, handbell ensemble director, and choir conductor, he is dedicated to nurturing musical artistry and fostering community engagement through music.

Mr. Brewer has led the revision and development of K–12 music curricula for general music, band, and choir programs in multiple school districts. His work ensures that music education is inclusive, engaging, and research-based, providing equitable access for students of all backgrounds and fostering comprehensive musical literacy and performance skills.

In addition to his educational leadership, Mr. Brewer conducts research on the intersections of music, community health, and neurological conditions, with a focus on the therapeutic benefits of music for individuals with Alzheimer’sand amputee musicians. His work informs programs that support differently abled artists and older adults, highlighting the role of music in healing, rehabilitation, and cognitive wellness.

Mr. Brewer also serves as an international voice master class instructor for the International Youth Music Competition, working with talented young singers from around the world. In these master classes, he provides individualized coaching on vocal technique, interpretation, and performance artistry, helping students refine their skills and prepare for high-level competition. His mentorship emphasizes both technical excellence and expressive musicality, giving participants the tools to succeed on the global stage and fostering the next generation of accomplished vocal artists.

Under his direction, Mr. Brewer’s students have earned top honors in national and international competitions including the International Youth Music Competition, the Charleston Music Competition, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). His students have been featured on NPR, awarded collegiate scholarships, and cast in leading roles in musical theater productions.

​

Mr. Brewer has also faithfully served the Diocese of Pittsburgh as Director of Music Ministry and Organist for several parishes and schools, where he continues to uphold and advance the sacred music tradition.

​

He studied under a distinguished group of mentors, including Mrs. Donna Kinsey, Mr. Chip Buck, Mrs. Glenda Gray, MS. Janis-Rozena Peri, Dr. Nicholas Perna, Dr. Kyoung Cha, Dr. William Haller, and Mr. William Whitesides.

​

Mr. Brewer is an active member of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the American Choral Directors Association, and Handbell Musicians of America. He is also the founder of Amputee Musicians in the Pittsburgh Community, a pioneering initiative supporting differently abled artists through inclusive music education and performance opportunities.
