At The Music Note, we take pride in the collection of instruments available for our students, many of which have been generously donated in memory or honor of special. Explore the variety of instruments at The Music Note that provide our students with the opportunity to learn and grow in their musical journey. Please note that the instruments listed on this page were given as gives to The Music Note. There are many more instruments in the studio for students to use.

The Harpsichord
The harpsichord, a unique keyboard instrument known for its plucked strings, has a rich history that flourished from the 16th to late 18th century. In a heartfelt gesture, a harpsichord was purchased and donated to The Music Note in 2025, honoring the remarkable contributions of Mrs Gretchen McCabe. For decades, Mrs.Cabe has been a steadfast supporter of arts education in Pittsburgh, making a lasting impact on the community. This donation celebrates her commitment to nurturing creativity and the arts.

Lyon and Healy
Style 11Harp
with Gold Treatment
Gold Style 11 Lyon and Healey Harp was proudly acquired by The Music Note in 2022, thanks to the generous gift from the family of Mr. Bob Dottson. This beautiful instrument was purchased from renownedist Mrs. Christine Mazza and has since become a resource for all harp students at Music Note, enriching their musical journey.

Mikel Lever Harp
The Music Note proudly acquired its first harp in 2022, thanks to Mrs. Bobbie Dotson, who purchased it in memory of her father, Bob. This beautiful Mikle lever harp is a Lily model, featuring 40 strings that create enchanting melodies. The bass notes are crafted from durable steel, while the treble strings are composed of unique sugar cane, a special touch to its sound.

Celesta
The celesta is a captivating keyboard percussion instrument resembling a compact, upright piano. It generates its unique sound through felt hammers that strike metal bars, with the resonance enhanced by wooden boxes beneath. This particular celesta was generously donated memory of Rev. William Kinsey by his wife, Mrs. Donna Kinsey, in January 2024.

Bass Guitar
The Music Note has been fortunate to receive many generous gifts since opening its doors in 2021. One of the highlights was the donation of a bass guitar by an anonymous donor, which we proudly received on our first anniversary. This thoughtful gesture reflects the community's support and passion for music, helping us create a vibrant space for artists and music lovers alike.

Kawai Upright Piano

Folk Harp
The Green Lyon and Healy Folk Harp, acquired by The Music Note in 2023 from the esteemed retired harp teacher Julia Ann Scott, is a stunning addition to our collection. With 34 strings and levers, it offers a versatile range of musical possibilities. The beautifully crafted Celtic designs on the soundboard add a touch of elegance, making it not just an instrument, but a work of art. Whether you're a seasoned musician or a beginner, this harp promises inspire creativity and joy in every performance.

Whitechapel Handbells
Welcome to The Music Note, where we celebrate the rich heritage of bell craftsmanship. We are honored to have received a 5-octave set of Whitechapel Handbells, a testament to the 450-year legacy of the renowned Whitechapel Bell Foundry. Known for casting iconic bells like the Liberty Bell and Big Ben, Whitechapel has been a cornerstone of musical history since the 1740s.The Music Note was very fortunate to have 5 octave set of Whitechapel Handbells donated in memory of the late Thomas J. Newcomer.

Schulmerich Silver Melody Bells
The Music Note is proud to showcase these rare instruments, for a limited time in the 1980s and again from 2013 to 2020. We are especially grateful to have received extraordinary pieces as a donation in memory of Mr. William and Mrs. Carol Hillberry. Their legacy lives on through the music created with these unique instruments. Join us in celebrating their contribution to our musical community.

Bell Plate
Belleplates, a unique addition to the percussion family and handbell sub-family, consist of a handle connected to a trapezoidal aluminum plate, played by striking it with an attached hammer. intriguing instrument beautifully blends the sounds of handbells and handchimes. Recently, we received a mysterious donation of these bellplates left on our stoop on Halloween 2023, accompanied by a note that read, "Enjoy making music with these." They were gifted in memory of Rev. William Kinsey, adding an inspiring story to their melodic potential.

Baldwin Grand Piano
The Baldwin Grand Pano, a generous gift from the Farina Foundation in 2024, has become a cherished addition to The Music Note. Measuring 5ft 8in in length, this exquisite piano is a delight for musicians of all levels. Its beautiful craftsmanship and rich sound make it a favorite among those who have the pleasure of playing it. Come and see the magic of the Baldwin Grand Pano for yourself!

Yamaha Grand Piano
The Laurita family from Morgantown, West Virginia made a generous donation in 2023, a beautiful Yamaha grand piano to The Music Note. This 5 foot 6 inch grand piano features a diskl, a modern version of the classic player piano that allows for a unique musical experience. The addition of this instrument will surely enhance the musical offerings and inspire creativity within the. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Laurita family for their contribution!

Estey Grand Piano
Introducing a beautifully refurbished piano, crafted with care by Moder Piano of Wexford in 2020. Originally made in 1902, 6ft long instrument been meticulously refinished and updated with high-quality Steinway Action and Yamaha Piano strings, ensuring an exceptional playing experience. Perfect for both professional musicians and enthusiasts, this piano combines classic with modern performance.
