My Story
Heather Sherlock is a native of Pittsburgh. In 2020, she recieved a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education from Westminster College (PA) with an additional teaching certificate for PK-8 Special Education. She further pursued her music education by attending Kent State University and will graduate with a Master's of Music in Music Education in December. Her Master's thesis work is about creating inclusive elementary music classrooms that support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Heather is currently the sole music teacher at Friendship Academy, a special education school for emotional/behavioral disturbances and autism in East Liberty. She is also an active tubist with the North Pittsburgh Symphonic Band, which rehearses and performs at North Hills Middle School. When not performing or teaching, Heather can be found hanging with her husband, Sam Sherlock, and dog, Muffy, and quilting or reading.
